Malachite & Chrysocolla

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga, DR Congo
Class:
Massive/Crystalline
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9.2 × 5.2 × 2.7 cm
Description

This is a good specimen of chrysocolla in a gorgeous balance with malachite. Malachite comes out of this area in high quantities, but when it is intermixed with chrysocolla, it is really sought-after for the obvious reason of its great beauty. It is hard to find ones like this where the two colors are in such a great balance and you get the beautiful malachite patterns in a "sea" of deep turquoise blue. The turquoise blue is even more intense than on the photo. Well-polished all over to bring out the beauty.
