Crystal Group/Cluster

Description

This specimen is from a new cleft from the Weißeck Mountain, which I found in July 2020. The report will follow on my homepage when the work on this cleft is completed. The fluorite shows an astonishing 4.7 cm edge length and curved bowl-shaped faces with an intense square texture. Due to the bowl shape, the faces always mat shine when you move the fluorite. This form of crystallization was already found in the fluorites of the Ice-Cleft - just not as intense. This fluorite shows extraordinary zoning: the outermost zone is colorless (approx. 2 mm) then there is a violet zoning (approx. 8 mm) to be interrupted by a blue zoning (approx. 3 mm). The center is very intense purple which shows its amazing color with the strong background lighting. The blue zoning is very difficult to show with the photo and much better in person.
