Grossular Var Hessonite With Clinochlore

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Susa Valley, Torino Provonce, Piedmont, Italy
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4 × 3.5 × 1 cm
Description

Highly lustrous hessonite crystals with cherry-red color crowded in very good size over one side of a matrix face. Italy has some of the best Alpine garnets of the world. Look at the pictures: The crystals are so transparent and shiny – they show their fire and the gemmy quality in natural light. The crystals twinkle like bright stars as they catch and reflect the light. There are also some gray-green densely packed books of clinochlore on the hessonite. The backside of this wonderful specimen is also crystallized with very small crystals. Very hard to catch in a picture – much better in real life!
