Description

The Gasteiner Valley is known for its alpine green fluorite octahedra in Austria. There are several sites where fluoritesin different colors (mainly different shades of green), sizes and quantities have been found. This specimen comes from the new find which has just been published in the Lapis issue Jg. 42 Nr.10 Okt. 2017. The color of this specimen goes into an intense green. The faces show a good satin luster and the crystals are very translucent with a bright zoning along the edges. Additionally, the faces of the fluorite octahedron show a special feature: The slightly shining and smooth crystals are partly covered with a second layer and a second generation of fluorite. This rare kind of crystallization can be recognized very well in the photos. Well crystalized as floater specimen - undamaged!

You also get the report about the fluorite from Gastein from our website, with the photo of the piece on the first page.
