Andradite & Quartz

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Serifos Island, Milos, South Aegean, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5 × 4 × 3.4 cm
Description

Slightly translucent red-brown andradite crystals, sharp-edged with a dark zoning along their edges. Good contrast to the dark green hedenbergite matrix. White quartz crystals offer an additional contrast in color and make the specimen very impressive. An old found from Serifos, a place where it is forbidden to dig for this mineral since some years and where no new finds are to be expected. A superb piece of perfect aesthetics and quality!
