Iridescent coloring Pyrite Sun from Sparta, Illinois. Collected from a coal mine three hundred feet below the earth's surface, it was formed over 350 million years ago! The fanned crystal structure is due to compressed growth between sheets of anthracite coal shale. The mine was closed in November 2016. No new material will come out. Very aesthetic on both sides due to the iridescent color and the lively structure!
