Description

The fluorites from the Summit Cleft of Weisseck are internationally well-known. There is also a new kind of fluorites, which come from the ice cleft. In the near future you will see more of these extraordinary fluorites. A third cleft, less known than the two clefts mentioned above, but definitely noteworthy, is located on the eastern slope of the Weisseck Mountain. It is a very dangerous place of finding, the lime being broken in all directions by the frost. Large pieces of rock are stapled loosely. The collector has to crawl under the rocks and be very cautious when choosing one of them to remove, in order to prevent the house of cards from collapsing. If lucky, the risk taken is rewarded with an extraordinary fluorite, characterized by its fantastic color and its translucence.

This fluorite shows an amazing edge length of 5.2 cm. The faces are partially lustrous with a fine and lively structure; other surfaces of the fluorite are matt showing a shining patch on them. The color of this kind of fluorite reminds of the fascinating clarity of a deep mountain lake surrounded by limestone. The fluorite displays a great blue, especially in daylight. Daylight also enables the beholder to discover the wonderful transmitted light color, which is a great blue as well. The specimen is an entirely well-crystallized piece. It stands in the displayed position without support. The ground and the back are extracted from the rock. An excellent piece that comes directly from my collection! It should be highly ranked as a great rarity with fine quality.
