Fluorite & Calcite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Ice Cleft, Weißeck Area, Murwinkel, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.2 × 5 × 3.5 cm
Description

An unusual one-off piece from the Ice Cleft: fluorite with a 1 mm thick yellowish to grey enamel-like fluorite layer on the crystal surface. With medium LED backlit, the fluorite shows a pastel light green in one area, a pastel light blue in another area, and a pastel light lilac in the top area (second and fourth photo). Unfortunately, these delicate colors are almost impossible to see in the photo. The crystal surfaces are highly glossy with a parquet-like structure. A single calcite crystal sits cheekily on the side. This piece comes from the lower area of the large rear cavern in the Ice Cleft - about 18 meters from the entrance. It was found in August 2015. On my homepage you will find a detailed report on this find (also with videos).
