Description

You are bidding on a small fragment of extremely rare nizamoffite from the second locality for this extremely rare species! Only around 10 specimens are known from the original find at the Palermo Mine in New Hampshire, and this find from the Foote Mine was made in 2009 but not noticed until May of this year. Only one vug of the crystals was encountered and the mineral verified by PXRD/EDS analysis. This specimen hosts a section of a partial large crystal of nizamoffite that has a smaller, sharp, single crystal attached. Also there are minute epitaxial jahnsite-CaMnMn crystals and a tiny brown prism of metaswitzerite. This will be the ONLY specimen of this mineral I will be offering from the Foote Mine and it is very doubtful any more will be found. This is by some margin the rarest find I've made at the mine, and probably also my favorite discovery to date.
