Description

Rare polished opal specimen from Mintabie opal field, Australia.

With direct light the main color is an intensive bright red. With light coming from the side the color turns more and more to green (with some yellow and blue)

Opal - especially with that size - is tricky to photograph and of course it depends on the light incidence.

This kind of specimen is not for jewellery production since there is only a thin layer based on hard sandstone and cracked. So only small parts would be usefull for cutting.

But with that size and the intensive bright colors it is a good specimen for mineral collections.
