Description

Rare polished opal specimen from Mintabie opal field, Australia.

On the sides the opal is very intensive and multicolor (red, blue, green etc.) - in the middle it is not so intensive and mostly in red - but the whole slice is opalized.

Opal - especially with that size - is tricky to photograph and it depends on the light incidence. On the last pictures I tried to point out the opalization by rendering.

The (especially red) color on white base is intensive and of course from Mintabie much more worth for jewelry production.

But this kind of specimen is based on hard sandstone and cracked, so only small parts would be usefull for cutting.

It is more an amazing slice for mineral collections and of course not often seen on the market.
