Description

Uvarovite is known in Greece from three localities that mostly give massive specimens. Major locality is Ano Virsini that is actually a small open pit with a dump (worked after WWI) where uvarovite on chromite ore is sporadically found. Specific specimen is very rich for the locality and comes from a geologist's collection who did his PhD at the area. Polished in two sides due to analysis done on specimen. Minor clinochlore is also present.

A very interesting specimen for a garnet collection due to rare locality.
