Description

Thasos island is the second best locality for Greek smithsonite after of course Lavrion mines.This specimen represents the finest smithsonite from Thasos island coming from the now closed Vouves mine at Limenaria. Smithsonite shows as votryoidal aggregates of gray whitish color and fine satin luster always set on barite crystals matrix.This is among the finest specimens i have ever found at Vouves mine and can be a nice addition to a smithsonite collection due to rarity.
