Description

A cluster of parallel grown aquamarine crystals with black tourmaline from the recent find in the Shigar valley. The luster and color of aquamarine from this locality surpasses the classic Pakistani aquamarine with mica from Chumar Bakhoor. Aquamarine crystals have perfect hexagonal terminations, modified by two orders of hexagonal bipyramids. The mid of the crystal cluster shows foggy blue color zoning parallel to basal planes, typical for this locality.

The specimen is decorated with long tourmaline, penetrating aquamarine cluster at its base, and several translucent white pericline crystals that are partially covering the tourmaline. In addition to this large tourmaline, numerous needles of black tourmaline can be seen as inclusions in aquamarine. A complete floater with attachment points covered by fine crystalline micaceous material from the pegmatite rest fluids. The specimen stands without a support, which makes it exceptional for display.
