Description

Lustrous group of fine clear aquamarine crystals from the recent find in the Shigar valley. Mehfooz says that this is one of the most productive pegmatite areas low in the valley, at around 1500 m elevation, so they can work there in Winter period. The luster and color of these crystals surpasses the classic Pakistani aquamarine specimens from the Chumar Bakhoor locality above 6000 m elevation.

The cluster of clear aquas is decorated with minor pericline and tiny schorl at the base of the crystal group. The larger crystal shows foggy blue color zoning parallel to basal planes, typical for this locality. A complete floater with attachment points covered by fine crystalline micaceous material from the pegmatite rest fluids.
