Minerals of the lead and zinc ore deposit Mežica (book):
A5 format, hardcover, 112 pages, over 230 high-quality photographs and illustrations

Lead and zinc ore mineralization in the Upper Meža valley, with all its hidden treasures, so magnificently presented in this book, offers a valuable training ground for geology and mineralogy studies. The book is a precious document disclosing the exceptional natural wealth of the Mežica mine. The author has identified two new types of wulfenite twins, not yet described in the scientific literature, among many mineralogical curiosities. In an adventurous way, the book takes us through the history of mining in Mežica, into deep underground straight to the vugs lined with crystals, which are laid open in front of the reader. A work like this one makes us aware of an overseen natural beauty, that surrounds us and often goes by without being noticed.

Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Kleebe, mineralogist
Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany)

For the first time, in a book accessible to the general public, the relationships between the complex geological processes and the succession of minerals during the genesis and evolution of the Mežica ore field are described in clear and easily understandable language. Special attention is devoted to the descriptions of the secondary minerals and their morphological peculiarities, such as the curious hemimorphy of wulfenite, for which the Mežica mine is famous worldwide. The book, with more than 230 professional photographs and numerous illustrations, comes across as a beautiful piece of work prepared with the utmost care and great admiration for the miraculous world of minerals in the depths of the Peca mountain.

Prof. Dr. Mihály Pósfai, geologist
University of Pannonia Veszprém (Hungary)
