The Preguisa mine is a mine located in the lower Alentejo area, which encompasses the so-called "magnetite and zinc belt", which is where our mine is located, between the Guadiana rivers and its Ardila tributary, and has restricted access, using the mine today for the extraction of water for irrigation of the adjacent fields. The most important deposits in this area are Zn and Pb, and are associated with dolomitic limestones that formed iron mounds after subsequent processes. The mineralogy associated with the area has given pieces of Descloizite, Calcite, Aragonite, Cerusite, Willemite, Smithsonite, Plattnerite, Beudantite, Coronadite, Minrecordite, Mimetite and Hydrozincite, as the sample piece, a piece of hydrozincite matrix, of an extraordinary white, earthy and opaque texture, monoclinic crystalline system; It is a very fragile carbonate, with very small crystals, in the form of sheets. A beautiful sample of hydrozincite from a closed mine, and protected by the community of bats that live there, so that in order to enter the mine permits from the Portuguese authorities are needed.
