It is already nearly a few months since we returned from our eventful trip to Alicante with the Uerpmann collection; when we returned we parked a large portion of the unseen collection in our warehouse.
All this material had been wrapped and taped in newspaper for around 15 years already and could stay put for a while as there is plenty of other material more accessible.
Today curiosity got the better of us so we decided to see what lay within one of the trugs.
In amongst the fossils and fluorescents, plus some other nice surprises was this.
It is an English pot lid circa 1900, Eupermann catalog id#619 "Anchove Dose Porzellan". This is instantly recognisable to anyone who knows about old bottles, which has been my other passion for over 40 years.
I confess I never spotted it in the catalogue until I referenced the label number on discovery.
Unfortunately the provenance and unusual place of discovery outshines its interest in the world of old bottles - one I will be keeping for the story value nonetheless!
