Marc Allen Fleischer owner of the Fleischer Museum has been showing of this interesting specimen from Tsumeb.
One of the main directions of the Fleischer collection is "Rough and Cut" where a mineral is displayed side by side as natural mineral with a cut stone.
This particular mottramite over calcite from Tsumeb has a wonderful botroidal dark pistachio green natural face and to the back a cut and polished face showing the structures of the mineral and its calcite matrix.
The specimen was acquired at the recent Ste Marie show by Evan Jones, the piece is 9cm by 7cm.
