Tsumeb Puzzler

This excellent large specimen of smithsonite was one of a large suite of smithsonite in Warren Taylor's main Tsumeb collection.

The piece is a mound of flattened crystals pink in colour with an orange "cadmium derived" coating to the surface.

Collected in Level 34 of the mine the crystals are very different in habit. There were some other smaller pieces in the inventory, so suggests the proceeds of a single pocket.
