Norman Cogger Collection - Update

Content image: Norman Cogger Collection - Update

As we announced a few weeks ago the Russell Society has been tendering for a purchaser for the Norman Cogger collection.

The process has now been completed and we are pleased to announce that we, TVM are the successful bidders.

Having evaluated the collection we found out it has a particularly interesting dimension to the catalogue.

Norman Cogger was a geochemist and has completed a whole range of "wet chemical" analyses for his minerals. These have been written up full detail and indexed with each item record.

There is an anthology of extremely informative analytical chemistry which could be considered as obsolescent in today's world on analytics.

We will endeavor to see this lives on by the addition of the collection information to the e-Rocks database.

Another part Norman Cogger's interests was the prevention of "pyrite rot", with notes, desiccators and vacuum tubes belonging to various experiments. It will be fun to explore any findings!

Many thanks to the Russell Society for managing the process, it is good to know the proceeds from the sale are going to a worthy cause.
